In the cognition of many people, they think that batteries are separate batteries and there is no difference. But in the minds of those who specialize in lithium batteries, there are many types of batteries, such as energy storage batteries, power batteries, starting batteries, digital batteries, etc. Different batteries have different materials and production processes. Below, we will discuss the difference between equipment starting batteries and ordinary batteries:
First, equipment starting batteries belong to rate batteries, which are large-capacity lithium-ion batteries with high-rate charge and discharge functions. It should meet the conditions of high safety, wide range of ambient temperature difference, strong charge and discharge functions, and good rate discharge availability. The charging current of the equipment starting battery is very high, even up to 3C, which can shorten the charging time; ordinary batteries have low charging current and slow charging speed. The instantaneous discharge current of the equipment starting battery can also reach 1-5C, while ordinary batteries cannot provide continuous current output at the discharge rate of high-rate batteries, which can easily cause the battery to heat up, swell, or even explode, posing a safety hazard.
Secondly, high-rate batteries require special materials and processes, resulting in higher costs; ordinary batteries have lower costs. Therefore, high-rate batteries are used for some electric tools with very high instantaneous current; ordinary batteries are used for ordinary electronic products. Especially for the electric starting device of some vehicles, this type of starting battery needs to be installed, and it is generally not recommended to install ordinary batteries. Since ordinary batteries have a very short life under high-rate charging and discharging and are easily damaged, the number of times they can be used may be limited.
Finally, it should be noted that there is a certain difference between the starting battery and the power battery of the equipment. The power battery is the electricity that powers the equipment after it is running. Relatively speaking, its charge and discharge rate is not that high, usually only about 0.5-2C, which cannot reach the 3-5C of starting batteries, or even higher. Of course, the capacity of the starting battery is also very small.
