Why does the battery need BMS management?

Can’t the battery just be connected directly to the motor to power it?

Especially nowadays, lithium batteries with extremely high energy density have become the mainstream. However, they are more sensitive to these factors. Once they are overcharged and discharged or the temperature is too high or too low, the battery life will be seriously affected.

It may even cause permanent damage. Moreover, an electric vehicle does not use a single battery, but a packaged battery pack composed of many cells connected in series, parallel, etc. If one cell is overcharged or overdischarged, the battery pack will be damaged. Something will go wrong. This is the same as the ability of a wooden barrel to hold water, which is determined by the shortest piece of wood. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and manage a single battery cell. This is the meaning of BMS.
